Jammin' at Voodoo
Monthly Live Jam Session (last Thursday of the month) at The Voodoo Rooms with some of Scotland's leading musicians playing lounge grooves from many genres. Catch Blues, Soul, Funk, Ska, Rock and Reggae...sometimes even Jazz & Country. There's decent valve amps, a tight sound system and musicians play by invitation to set a good standard. Recent guests have included Jerry Donahue, Neil Warden, Stevie Hay and Sliding Dave Dixon. Usually a Thursday, late in the month. The sessions are arranged by Rod Kennerd who plays bass with Stevie Hayes's Band and Ash Gupta, Guitarist and leader of Kool Vibration, Scotland's top Roots Reggae ensemble featuring Phil Soltau from Kingston on Keys.
April 15 sees the debut of a brand new musical force from Edinburgh, a 3 piece outfit called "The Volitantes" fronted by Tricky Ricky Lindsay. This month they are our feature act at Jammin'. The word on the street is that Embra Blues Icon, Wailin' John Bruce is gatherin' a long lost tribe of Troubled Blues musos from the Dalkieth Crossroads & they should be there in force. We have invited the guys from Guitar Guitar to showcase some of their hidden house players from the inner vaults, poor souls who normally have to listen to us guys. And you will be sure to find some of the usual Voodoo House Band including Reggae Gregie Johnson on drums, Badass Da Bass His Rodness K, Saxing Trav P, and The Mhan Ash on Fender guitar. The session starts at 9 pm sharp and ends at 11.00 Entrance is £5 as usual and we have Sound Engineer courtesy of our Sponsor, Guitar Guitar. Please bring your instrument and let Rod or I know if you plan to play and bring your pals that dig live sounds. Hope 2 CU here. Some say this is an evening not to be missed. Well, come along and judge for your self.
