Never boring: The Bowie Blinders celebrate Bowie at 80
Eleven Scottish musicians. Four voices. Two nights celebrating David Bowie in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The Bowie Blinders will celebrate what would have been David Bowie’s 80th birthday with two special gigs: at Stereo, Glasgow, on 8 January 2027 and The Voodoo Rooms, Edinburgh, on 9 January 2027.
Bringing together 11 Scottish musicians from a variety of bands, The Bowie Blinders are an occasional gathering united by a shared love of Bowie’s music. Four vocalists join seven instrumentalists to celebrate the songs in their own way, with room for individual voices, fresh interpretations and the pleasure of playing music they love.
This is not a conventional tribute act. The aim is not to impersonate Bowie or recreate a performance note for note, but to explore and celebrate his songs. The music is the starting point, not a script: each performer brings their own interpretation while keeping a deep affection for the originals at the heart of the show.
For audiences in Glasgow and Edinburgh, these two nights are an invitation to come together, enjoy the songs and celebrate Bowie’s enduring creative spirit. What better way to mark the birthday of an artist who was never boring than with a celebration that leaves room for something different?
