SUMMARY:The Real People
DESCRIPTION:The Real People were formed by Tony and Chris Griffiths in 1988. \n  \nSigned to CBS in Dec 1989 they released their eponymously named debut album including the singles Window Pane\, Open Up Your Mind and The Truth in 1991. The band then embarked on a series of successful British\, European\, American and Japanese tours\, also appearing at Glastonbury and supporting major artists such as The Pixies\, David Bowie and Inspiral Carpets to name a few. \nThe Realies (as they are known to their fans) then recorded their second album Marshmallow Lane with the help of legendary producer Jimmy Miller (Rolling Stones etc). This album provided the Top 40 single ‘Believer’. \nWhilst touring with Inspiral Carpets\, Chris and Tony took the then Inspirals roadie Noel Gallagher under their wing\, along with his brother Liam and the rest of Oasis. The Real People invited Oasis into their studio to develop and record the new band\, resulting in the now famous Live Demonstration Tape which subsequently secured them a major deal with Alan McGee and Creation Records. Once signed by Creation\, Chris and Tony were instrumental in the recording of Oasis’ first single ‘Supersonic’\, with Tony providing the backing vocals. Chris also co-wrote the B-side to ‘Roll With It’ entitled ‘Rockin’ Chair’ which helped set Oasis on the path to becoming world wide stars and the biggest band of the past 30 years. The Real People also inspired several other Oasis songs such as ‘Columbia’ and ‘Don’t Go Away’. Around this time Chris and Tony continued writing and developing other artists – including writing a Top 10 single for Cher and others. \n  \nIn 1996 The Real People signed to MGL Records and released their third album ‘What’s On The Outside’ which included the singles ‘Rolling Stone’\, ‘Rayners Lane’ and ’People In The Telly’. The band also embarked on tours including numerous tours with their good friends Ocean Colour Scene\, Paul Weller and Simple Minds. The Real People continued writing and touring for the next few years resulting in their now cult following and new albums ’Think Positive’ and ‘Monday Morning Breakdown’. \n \n

SUMMARY:cancelled - Mr Bruce
DESCRIPTION:Both as The Correspondents and a solo artist\, Mr Bruce has achieved cult status for his live shows taking him as far as New Zealand\, Australia and Chile where he played in front of audiences of over 10\,000 fans\, both old and new. Maniacal and balletic\, his performance lands somewhere between contemporary dance and rave. \n  \n\nFollowing a summer packed full of festival dates\, Mr Bruce will venture throughout his home country for his largest ever headline tour in support of his highly anticipated debut album\, OK\, released on state51 on 15th May 2026. \nOK is a multi-genre masterpiece produced by Angus Kemp spanning hyperpop\, garage\, hip hop and ambient with guest vocals from legendary musician Brian Eno\, cult US rapper Homeboy Sandman and emerging UK talent HAM. Together they navigate the subjects of grief\, protest and a love of the ocean with extraordinary energy\, dexterity and depth. \nLooking ahead to the tour this Autumn\, Mr Bruce said “I have found over the years that gigs/clubs/festivals that I’ve played have gone from being about the pursuit of hedonism to something else. There’s still all the dancing and raucous energy\, but there’s also space created for a little catharsis if that’s what you need. Many of the songs that I’ve made are designed for the dancefloor\, but the lyrics are about processing grief and standing in defiance of systems built to oppress and divide us. For my new live show I want to make a space for collective engagement with the complexity of our volatile world along with the release of dancing and shaking it all out with a room full of people.” \n\n\n \n \nLinks\nwww.mrbruce.co.uk \n

SUMMARY:Jon Gomm
DESCRIPTION:Jon Gomm is a singer-songwriter and acoustic solo performer based in Yorkshire\, UK\, known for his once-seen-never-forgotten virtuoso guitar style. \nThis involves slapping\, tapping and retuning as he plays\, producing a huge\, multi-layered sound filled with bass\, drums and near-orchestral depth and complexity from a single guitar. His songs are often deeply emotive\, whether with or without his soft\, affecting voice. And his live performances are intimate and powerful\, but always punctured by his natural North Of England wit and self-deprecation. \nIn 2020 Jon was voted “Best Acoustic Guitarist In The World” in the largest online poll of its type\, conducted by MusicRadar / Guitar World. Ibanez guitars launched the JGM10 and JGM5 Jon Gomm Signature Model guitars in 2021. He’s the 3rd guitarist ever to design a signature acoustic with Ibanez\, the previous two being Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. \nIn 2023\, Jon’s song Passionflower was placed 6th in Total Guitar’s “50 Greatest Acoustic Guitar Songs Of All Time”\, just behind The Beatles’ Blackbird and Tears In Heaven by Eric Clapton. Jon is also a passionate advocate for mental health and neuro-diversity. \n \n \n \n“Once you get over the jaw dropping manoeuvres and technique\, you will be rewarded with some spectacularly beautiful songs.”\nBlues & Soul magazine (UK) \n“One of the world’s most gifted and inspirational guitar players.”\nAcoustic Magazine (UK) \n“Hands down the most amazing guitarist I have ever seen!”\nTommy Lee\, Motley Crue \n \nLinks\nwww.jongomm.com \n

SUMMARY:Annie-Claude Deschênes
DESCRIPTION:  \nAnnie-Claude Deschênes embraces multidisciplinarity in her quest to merge music and performance art\, challenging stage conventions. \n  \nA prominent figure in Montreal’s independent music scene for over twenty years\, she gained recognition as the frontwoman of the cult bands Duchess Says and PyPy. SUMMARY:A Certain Ratio
DESCRIPTION:October 2026 Sextet and Force Anniversary tour \n  \nIn October ACR will be hitting the road to celebrate the Anniversary of their classic and beloved albums\, Sextet and Force.\nBoth albums will be played in full with an interval in between and some surprises thrown in. \nIt’s 45 years since ACR went into Revolution Studios in Cheadle Hulme\, Stockport to record the 1982 album Sextet and it’s 40 years since the release of the 1986 album Force which was also recorded in Stockport but at Yellow 2. Sextet is ACR’s most critically acclaimed album and it was the first album they produced as ACR\, it includes the majestic Lucinda and the live favourite Knife Slits Water. Force is one of their most commercial albums\, produced by ACR and the late Stuart (Jammer) James and is their last album on Factory Records\, it includes funky masterpiece Mickey Way and live party favourite Si Firmo O Grido. Each album is starkly different to each other yet very clearly ACR. \n“We’re celebrating these two milestones with this tour to say we are very excited is an understatement. It will be a real challenge\, which we’ve already started preparing for\, with nine months to go! We will be playing two sets with no support” \n \n \n \n“SEXTET is an album of the present\, killing the past and agreeably ignoring the future. It is an after-Rock Record. This is one of the most strategically tired albums you’ll hear all year. It is also one of the best.”\nSounds – 5 Stars \n \nLinks\nwww.acrmcr.com \n

SUMMARY:Skating Polly & Lord Friday the 13th
DESCRIPTION:Skating Polly are hitting the road once again\, bringing their fearless “ugly-pop” vision to audiences alongside Los Angeles-via-Austin provocateurs Lord Friday the 13th for a tour that promises catharsis\, chaos\, and unfiltered punk energy. \n  \nFor more than a decade\, Skating Polly have carved out a singular place in modern punk\, evolving from youthful outsiders into one of the genre’s most inventive and emotionally resonant forces. With Chaos County Line\, the Oklahoma-bred trio—Kelli Mayo\, Peyton Bighorse and Kurtis Mayo—have pushed that evolution even further\, delivering an expansive double album that swings from art-punk abrasion to melodic power-pop while preserving the unruly spirit that has defined the band from the start. \n  \nBuilt around the raw honesty and experimental ambition of Chaos County Line\, the tour arrives as Skating Polly continue a creative high point fueled by some of their most vulnerable and explosive songwriting to date. Songs like “Hickey King\,” “I’m Sorry For Always Apologizing\,” and “Double Decker” showcase a band unafraid to confront identity\, obsession\, and emotional survival\, while channeling those themes into music that feels as exhilarating as it is confrontational. Long admired for turning personal chaos into communal release\, Skating Polly have made a career out of transforming punk into something both abrasive and deeply melodic—music that feels\, as Kelli Mayo has described it\, like armor. \n  \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:The Poozies
DESCRIPTION:The Poozies have been a popular mainstay on the scene since 1991. As an all-female group they were very much in the minority but they soared to success on the back of a television appearance on Shetland Sessions\, filmed live at the Shetland Folk Festival. \n  \nIt showed off their originality\, musicianship and great sense of fun\, and kick-started a long career of high-profile gigs and worldwide tours. Along with founding member Mary Macmaster and long-time cohort Eilidh Shaw other distinguished members of the band during this period included Kate Rusby\, Karen Tweed\, Sally Barker\, Mairearad Green and Patsy Seddon. A quieter time followed while children were born and raised\, and the inevitable shifting of priorities and relationships. \nIn 2015 the band came back with a bang! The grounding bass of Mary’s inimitable electro-harp and Eilidh’s lyrical west coast fiddle were joined by Orkney’s Sarah McFadyen and Oban’s Tia Files: two exceptional young multi-instrumentalists\, vocalists and composers. A whole new level of energy and creativity was born and the resulting 2018 album ‘Punch’ made a big impact on the scene. This Claire Button review sums it up quite nicely: \n‘Back in the early 1990s when the Poozies were nascent and had Kate Rusby as a member\, you’d have been pretty shocked if they’d come out with a line like: “We have to assume she’s all right / Up to her neck in her own shite.” But as the title of this their eighth studio album makes clear\, the girls don’t hold back these days… Macmaster’s electro-harp provides a grungy underbelly to the three fiddles and massed vocals of the rest of the group as they romp through a vividly diverse tracklist… Special mention must go to Sarah McFadyen’s grittily stunning Soaking in the Bathtub\, from whence the rather naughty line comes. The combination of McFadyen’s Orcadian accent and swooping voice with her kitchen-sink lyrics make this one of my tracks of the year so far. Rather like a punch\, therefore (either the alcoholic or the violent kind)\, this knocks you out.’ \n  \nUnfortunately lockdown came along and messed everything up for everybody. But the Poozies rose again and evolved into something even bigger and better. In 2023 they brought in the hugely-dynamic guitar powerhouse Michael Bryan\, and went on to experiment with various highly-acclaimed drummers. 2025 will see the fruits of this exciting progression with the release of brand new music and a ramped-up\, festival-headlining show. \n  \n \n  \n“..a mischievous mix of musical mayhem\, spellbinding showcase instrumentals….unencumbered by conventional folk idioms”\nJon Bennet\, folking.com \n“..this is the serenade of a rare butterfly in the ring with a will to take on the wind and win. The Poozies return undaunted and full of energy”\nIan D Hall\, Liverpool Sound and Vision \n  \n \nLinks\npoozies.co.uk \n

SUMMARY:Joshua Burnell
DESCRIPTION:Like an intergalactic troubadour who crash-landed last century\, Joshua Burnell makes retro chamber pop for the modern world. \n  \nFresh off the back of a UK tour including a growing number of sold out dates\, Burnell is unleashing his second tour and album this year: Condor Keep & Other Stories. \n  \nBorn in France\, but raised on the move\, including years in Linlithgow\, Kendal and Yorkshire\, the eclecticism of Joshua’s influences mirrors this restless movement. There are shades of 70s rock\, singer-songwriter folk and classical sophistication drawn together with a bookish edge. His music has been compared to The Decemberists\, Al Stewart and The Observer wrote: “much of it would fit comfortably in a Peter Gabriel-era Genesis set.” His show feels like poring over an anthology of otherworldly tales yet with the flamboyance and emotion of a stadium rock show. \n  \nSensitive to the social challenges we all face in today’s age\, Joshua creates universes to offer both a temporary escape but also to reflect today’s injustices through his characters and stories with the understanding that bringing people together is the remedy. The standing ovation he received at Fairport’s Cropredy Convention amongst numerous festivals is testament that people are starting to connect with this relentlessly creative artist. \n  \nThe Escape From Condor Keep Tour spans across the UK and Europe\, with some dates already sold out – one of them (aptly) a medieval keep in the Netherlands. Having received the thumbs up from BBC Radio 2’s Mark Radcliffe\, and backed by a stellar 5-piece band\, Joshua Burnell is not one to miss. \n \n  \nLinks\nwww.joshuaburnell.co.uk \n

SUMMARY:Deep Forest
DESCRIPTION:The Deep Forest story began in the early 90’s in the North of France with the intention of mixing ethnic music with their own electronic and jazz sounds. \n  \nTheir debut self-titled album included the smash single ‘Sweet Lullaby’\, made them an instant worldwide name and\, including their subsequent releases\, they went on to sell 10 million albums. \nThe band received a Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album category and then\, with a later album\, ‘Boheme’\, they won the accolade. Collaborations with Peter Gabriel\, Herbie Hancock Aluna Wade\, plus compositions for various movies and remixes for the likes of Youssou N’Dour\, to name but a few\, the band were always productive. \nIn 2005 Michel Sanchez left to pursue a solo career whilst Eric Mouquet continued to create under the Deep Forest name\, releasing Deep Africa and Deep India albums to name just a few of the many productions. \nThe Deep Forest live set is of today is versatile\, as likely to dip into high tempo electronic music or jazz for audiences to dance to as it is to be ambient and relaxing whilst always retaining that classic Deep Forest sound. 2024 marks the 30th anniversary for the Best World Music Album in the Grammy Awards and 2025 is the 30th anniversary when Deep Forest won the prestigious award. \n \n  \nLinks\nwww.deep-forest.fr \n

SUMMARY:Gia Ford
DESCRIPTION:How often do we hear from the outsider’s perspective? For rising new artist Gia Ford\, those figures on the fringes of society are by far the most fascinating. \nHer songs tell the stories of the downtrodden to the downright dangerous. And through them\, we begin to hear familiar\, uncomfortable truths about ourselves. \n  \nRaised between Sheffield and Cheshire after her parents divorced\, Ford developed an early passion for both poetry and original songs. “I’ve always loved writing creatively\, and poetry is something I do for my own pleasure\,” she says. “The two come together quite naturally\, to the point that I end up writing these short stories that happen to be set to music.” This culminated in her spectacular debut album\, Transparent Things\, which was released in 2024 and is a collection of songs that demonstrates Ford’s signature Sheffield swagger\, burnished with nods to alt-pop and psychedelic sleaze. Most of all\, her debut album shows how Ford is able to craft songs like no other artist of her generation. \n  \nSpeaking about her writing style\, Ford said “I think there’s a particular style of being very literal in a lot of modern lyrics\, but I don’t find any joy in writing like that […] It’s so morose talking about myself all the time.” Growing up\, she found herself drawn to artists such as Kate Bush\, Bjork\, The Rolling Stones and Dusty Springfield: all enigmatic artists whose multi-layered songwriting only added to their allure. “What I’ve discovered through writing this album is\, in a way\, I am still writing about myself\,” she says. “A few themes have come through that really surprised me.” \n  \nFollowing the release of Transparent Things\, Ford received huge critical success\, with CLASH Magazine called her a “striking indie it-girl to watch” in an 8/10 review whilst The Line of Best Fit said “Gia Ford’s debut record is a triumph of perseverance\, of artistic integrity\, and of what can happen when you stick to your guns”. Ford has also received additional support from a wealth of titles including NME\, DIY\, WhyNow\, Rolling Stone UK\, Polyester\, and Wonderland\, to name a few. \n  \n \nLinks\ngiaford.co.uk \n

SUMMARY:Prolapse
DESCRIPTION:  \nAfter a 26-year hiatus\, motorik noise merchants Prolapse returned with a new single ‘On the Quarter Days’ released on March 25th\, 2025\, through Tapete Records. The single marked a significant return for the band known for their combative lead singers who compete to see who can be heard the loudest over the pounding backline.  \n  \nProlapse’s new single is a bitter love story borne out of frustration where everything is worth nothing. In the very olden days\, the nearest you could get to nothing was to pay a peppercorn rent – a nominal sum. This was a symbolic act which was often paid on the quarter days – 4 days a year when you could sign a binding contract without giving anything away. Prolapse release their new single on the first of these days (Lady Day) and we hope that this little something will help you block out all the nothing flying around. \n  \nMick Derrick describes the new single as the sound of your neighbours arguing while turning up their stereo full blast. If you know Prolapse from before you’ll already know what that means. If not come in\, put a glass against the wall and listen. \n  \n‘On the Quarter Days’ is available on all streaming platforms. \n  \n \n \n  \n \n

In early 2025\, she joined Annie Lennox on stage at the Royal Albert Hall for “Sisters: Annie Lennox and Friends\,” a landmark concert that raised funds for The Circle\, Lennox’s global feminist organisation. Sharing the bill with artists including Celeste and Nadine Shah\, Connolly brought her singular presence to a night that celebrated the transformative power of music and collective voice. \n  \nThe past eighteen months have seen Honeyfeet on a steady rise. Their “They Want What You’ve Got” tour featured a string of acclaimed performances\, including shows at The Glasshouse in Gateshead and a headline slot at the Albert Hall in Manchester as part of WOMEX 24. Another unforgettable moment came with their performance at the cliffside Minack Theatre in Cornwall\, where the band held the audience in thrall beneath the open sky as the sun dropped into the sea. \n  \nNow\, with The Heads\, Hearts and Hooves Tour\, Honeyfeet widen their reach again. Their summer travels include appearances at Gobefest in Manchester and Plein Publique Festival in Belgium\, before they journey to Canada for performances at Hillside Festival in Ontario\, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and the Calgary Folk Music Festival. They continue through autumn with appearances at Wilderness\, Green Man and Found Festival\, concluding the year with a headline show at Manchester Academy Three. \n \n \n“Brilliant Band..”\nCRAIG CHARLES\, BBC 6 MUSIC \n“A righteous blast of working-class energy.”\nCLASH MUSIC\n \n“I’m in love with Honeyfeet.”\nBENJAMIN ZEPHANIAH\n \n \nLinks\nhoneyfeet.org \n
