SUMMARY:The Bowie Blinders - David Bowie / 80 Years
DESCRIPTION:Never boring: The Bowie Blinders celebrate Bowie at 80\n \n \nEleven Scottish musicians. Four voices. Two nights celebrating David Bowie in Glasgow and Edinburgh. \n \nThe Bowie Blinders will celebrate what would have been David Bowie’s 80th birthday with two special gigs: at Stereo\, Glasgow\, on 8 January 2027 and The Voodoo Rooms\, Edinburgh\, on 9 January 2027. \n \nBringing together 11 Scottish musicians from a variety of bands\, The Bowie Blinders are an occasional gathering united by a shared love of Bowie’s music. Four vocalists join seven instrumentalists to celebrate the songs in their own way\, with room for individual voices\, fresh interpretations and the pleasure of playing music they love.\nThis is not a conventional tribute act. The aim is not to impersonate Bowie or recreate a performance note for note\, but to explore and celebrate his songs. The music is the starting point\, not a script: each performer brings their own interpretation while keeping a deep affection for the originals at the heart of the show. \n \nFor audiences in Glasgow and Edinburgh\, these two nights are an invitation to come together\, enjoy the songs and celebrate Bowie’s enduring creative spirit. What better way to mark the birthday of an artist who was never boring than with a celebration that leaves room for something different? \n \nThe Bowie Blinders — Celebrating David Bowie’s 80th Birthday\n8 January 2027 — Stereo\, Glasgow\n9 January 2027 — The Voodoo Rooms\, Edinburgh\nTickets: See Tickets\, Tickets Scotland\nDoors / stage times: 7.30pm /8.00pm

SUMMARY:Joachim Cooder
DESCRIPTION:There is a somewhat quiet giant making their way around America\, Europe\, and a few other territories that isn’t always noticed\, but when he’s there\, there is no way to ever overlook his music. \nJoachim Cooder is one-of-a-kind. That is all there is to it. He plays a variety of instruments\, writes songs that seem to come from a slightly different universe and is unforgettable once seen and heard. \nCooder has a handful of recordings now\, and every one is absolutely unforgettable. Which isn’t hard to understand once it’s clear what kind of musical discoveries he’s Had his life\, and one he continues to chase with the kind of energy of a champion athlete. \nOne of Cooder’s true calling cards is how his music is able to float in air. He is not tied to the tyranny of a snare drum or any one instrument. What the man is able to do is a blend of percussion\, strings\, vocals\, and other wonders without names into a breathing animal all its own. This really is popular music for people beyond popularity. People that live in a time of their own. \nJoachim Cooder grew up surrounded by music alongside his father\, legendary guitarist Ry Cooder who took him on the road at an early age on the drums\, playing both live and in the studio. These touring and recording projects allowed him to share stages and recordings with Johnny Cash\, Ali Farka Touré\, V. M. Bhatt\, Steve Earle\, John LeeHooker\, Dr. John\, Nick Lowe\, Mavis Staples\, The Happy Mondays\, and most notably the award winning project The Buena Vista Social Club which has sold more than eight million copies worldwide and entered the book of Guinness World Records as the best-selling world music album of all time. \n \n \nLinks\njoachimcooder.com \n

SUMMARY:The Allergies (live)
DESCRIPTION:The duo of DJ Moneyshot and Rackabeat have been delighting dance-floors and lighting up the airwaves since forming The Allergies and releasing their debut album in 2016. Year in\, year out\, they’ve sharpened their skills on the turntables and in the studio\, dropping one dynamite record after another. \n \nTouring the world\, clocking up A List status and Album of The Day gongs at BBC Radio 6 Music\, as well as sound tracking international ad and TV campaigns\, the pair show no signs of slowing. \nAfter consecutive top 40 LPs\, the boys are just wrapping the bow on their next full length artist album\, BENEATH THIS SUN\, which will drop in 2026. \n \nAs usual\, the Bristol-based beatmakers have assembled a crack team to help bring their loops to life. LA rap legend\, Andy Cooper (Ugly Duckling) is back on board\, alongside the mighty pipes of Marietta Smith (Smith & The Honey Badgers)\, and British sax institution James Morton (Pee Wee Ellis\, Fred Wesley and The New JB’s) – Also all staples of The Allergies dynamite live show act. \nPlus\, guest spots from some super special MCs and singers from both sides of The Pond including Chase & Status vocalist\, Knytro\, Nubiyan Twist frontwoman\, Aziza Jaye\, and young Bristol rap talents\, HybridMP & KAI. It continues to build on what first bonded the pair after meeting on the festival circuit – A love of deep funk and feel-good hip-hop. \n \nMoneyshot had already made a name for himself as a resident on Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel radio. Gaining worldwide fame for his DJ mixes\, with Rolling Stone magazine ranking him in their ’25 Greatest Internet DJ Mixes of All Time’ feature. \nAnd Rackabeat\, a successful drum ’n’ bass producer\, had already banged out a string of releases\, including remixing dance music royalty like Groove Armada.\nMixing this keen ear for a sample\, and some polished studio knowhow\, provided the perfect formula for The Allergies sound. Inspired by producers like Cut Chemist\, Public Enemy’s Bomb Squad\, and the kaleidoscopic sampledelica of acts like The Avalanches and vintage De La Soul\, they raid the past to make music for the future. \n \nClassic tracks from their back catalogue like ‘God Walked Down’\, ‘Felony’ and ‘Every Trick In The Book’ which continue to rack up tens of millions of streams\, are prime examples of The Allergies vision – To take dusty grooves from forgotten wax and pull out soulful hooks\, add hip-hop energy and driving drums\, to make something new and exciting that hits your heart as much as it does your dancing feet. \n \n \n \n“The Allergies music is big\, bouncy and fat! Just how I like my funk”\nCraig Charles\, BBC Radio 6 Music \n \n \nLinks\ntheallergies.co.uk \n

SUMMARY:Mama's Broke
DESCRIPTION:For more than a decade\, Mama’s Broke\, the Canadian duo of Amy Lou Keeler and Lisa Maria\, have forged a style carried across landscapes rather than tied to one. \nTheir forthcoming 12-song LP Reunion\, out August 28 via Free Dirt Records and Forward Music Group\, follows years in near-constant motion\, bringing their folk-without-borders approach to small clubs\, DIY spaces\, and everywhere in between. Winners of the Canadian Folk Music Award for Ensemble of the Year for their 2017 debut Count the Wicked\, their music is rooted in long days playing for passing crowds and traveling by foot\, as well as in the deep wells of folk lineage they’ve tapped into across Eastern Canada\, Appalachia\, Ireland\, and beyond. Their sound doesn’t belong to any one place so much as it passes through them\, grounded in the traditions that shaped it. \n \nThat foundation was built long before stages and studio sessions\, in traveling communities where music functioned as both currency and connection. The two met within a global network of musicians funding their way through shared songs\, carrying only what they could as they traded melodies and stories across the miles. Playing for hours at a time on the street demanded a repertoire that could hold attention and sustain emotion\, drawing them deep into traditional material and the discipline of close harmony. Over time\, the songs became a common language\, connecting what came before with the music they were making together. \n \nBuilding on their JUNO-nominated album Narrow Line (2022)\, Reunion reflects a world coming apart in plain sight\, tracing fractured communities\, the erosion of shared ground\, and the growing awareness that the systems we were taught to trust no longer hold or deliver the promises they were meant to keep. The songs don’t preach or prescribe; they reflect\, holding up a mirror and leaving space for something else to take shape. \n \nRecorded just outside Nashville in Goodlettsville\, Tennessee\, Reunion features subtle contributions from bassist Paul Kowert (Gillian Welch & David Rawlings) and others\, adding depth without pulling focus from the record’s acoustic core. At its heart\, Mama’s Broke remains what it has always been: two voices\, intertwined\, both fragile and enduring. Reunion asks what it means to make something that lasts: not a place you’re from\, or even a place you return to\, but what you make together\, and how long it lasts\, if you tend to it. \n \n \nLinks\nmamasbroke.ca \n

SUMMARY:Tommy Ashby
DESCRIPTION:2027 Tour: The Birds \n \nProlific Scottish songsmith Tommy Ashby has spent his career refining a natural talent for capturing the innate beauty of everyday moments in a dulcet combination of ethereal sonics and hushed vocals. \n \nHis fascination with the human relationship to sound saw him complete a PhD in Psychoacoustics\, knowledge of which Tommy deftly utilises throughout his songcraft to illuminate the beautiful minutia of life\, nature\, and relationships. \n \nAs his first self-produced effort\, sophomore album ‘Mantis’ is understandably Tommy’s most introspective and personal work yet. A self-confessed over-thinker\, Tommy uses the record to examine the anxieties and fears that arise through isolation and how our emotional connections and relationships to others can support us at our most vulnerable moments “The album name Mantis comes from the song of the same name\, which is about the fear of making a real connection with someone. I liked the weird metaphor of a mantis\, known for decapitating its potential mate. The idea is that we exaggerate the risks\, and they hold us from doing what we should. The worry that if we put ourselves out there\, our flaws will be on display for all to see. But opening ourselves up\, even only a tiny bit\, is the only way we make connections with others. This song moves from the fear of being rejected to the happiness that comes with connection.” ‘Mantis’ arrives Friday 6th June 2025 via Dance To The Radio. \n \nTommy’s previous works have amassed over 30 million streams across Spotify and seen him tour with the likes of Skinny Living\, Banners\, Tom Speight\, Turin Brakes\, Luke Sital-Singh\, Jamie Lawson\, and Nina Nesbitt as well as receiving continued support across Spotify Editorial mood playlists\, and a multitude of syncs at mainstream media including Grey’s Anatomy\, Atypical (Netflix)\, Love Island\, The Innocents (Netflix)\, Found (NBC) and across various placements on advertising and film. \n \n \nLinks\ntommyashby.com \n

SUMMARY:Funke and the Two Tone Baby
DESCRIPTION: \nFunke and the Two Tone Baby is a truly unique artiste.\n \n \nDesigning music on a machine of his own creation whilst playing a genre and sound that is totally his own. Jammed between off-kilter garage beats with a flash of hip-hop\, and high energy alternative blues with a dose of funk\, is a whirling blur of glitches\, big drops and jump up choruses. It’s Fatboy Slim meets The White Stripes via LCD Soundsystem and a smattering of IDLES to boot. No one is making music in this way or in this style\, and those who know\, know\, and those who don’t are surely missing out. \n \nIn February 2027\, Funke returns with his 5th studio album ‘Greebling’. ’Greebling’ is the process of adding detail to increase the appearance of complexity and this new iteration of Funke promises to be more detailed and more complex than ever before. With the new album featuring guest appearances from Beans on Toast and Samantics\, and once again produced by Dutty Moonshine Big Band’s production genius\, ‘Binge’\, Funke’s 5th LP stands head and shoulders above anything he has done so far on his long and dedicated music career. \n \nThe new record contains all the elements of blues\, electronica and ferocity that Funke’s been evolving for the last 15 years\, but distils it further down with tighter production\, a fuller embrace of dance music culture and an ever-growing arsenal of instruments and repertoire. Trading an acoustic guitar for an electric\, this new direction cuts through a pulsating desk of synths\, drum machines\, harmonicas and boundless energy\, to create a wall of sound you can’t believe one man can make. \n \nLinks\nfunkeandthetwotonebaby.co.uk \n

SUMMARY:Ripe
DESCRIPTION: \nRipe remembers sweating to hell in a basement underneath a Subway sandwich shop\, building their very first songs in a concrete cube that smelled like fresh bread. They remember selling their first tickets by hand outside the coffee shop that their friends worked at\, holding court like twenty-something impresarios trying to move like 50 tickets to a bar that was willing to let you keep the ticket sales if they kept the bar. \n \nIn a world where we constantly feel the loving pressure to “tell our story”\, where so many of our friends that have found success as artists have done it alone\, Ripe is using their bio to tell you that at the center of everything is collaboration and community\, a friendship that has become a bond as strong as family\, a constantly spinning object that cannot be properly captured by any single still photograph. \nThe making and release of their latest album\, Play The Game\, has been an intense\, joyous journey of swelling energy. Working in dream studios\, in a city they spent years trying to take a proper chance on\, with a producer that had made albums they loved in their formative years\, alongside the closest musical relations they had formed. This is their love letter to complicated nostalgia\, to relentless empowering change\, to realizing that making dreams come true (just like a crisis) only fully makes sense when it is shared. \nJoy In The Wild Unknown let them tell you who they were. Bright Blues had them ripped apart so they could start again. What comes next is the band swinging for the fences\, all in at the table\, risking everything for a shot at feeling connected to you. Thank you for being here. \n \n \nLinks\nripetheband.com \n

SUMMARY:The Zac Schulze Gang
DESCRIPTION:Off the back of their sold-out concert at London’s Islington Garage on Saturday April 11\, and winning the “Young Artist of the Year” award for the second year in a row at the UK Blues Awards 2026\, Kent blues rock trio The Zac Schulze Gang are pleased to announce their 2027 UK Headline Tour which includes their biggest London concert to date at The Islington Assembly Hall on Saturday February 27th. \n \nThe band are best known for their explosive live shows and their signature blend of 70’s classic blues rock and modern alternative influences. Guitarist Zac Schulze commands the punk intensity of Wilko Johnson\, the blues rock finesse of Rory Gallagher\, and the adrenaline-pumped rock presence of AC/DC’s Angus Young. \nOver the past few years\, the Kent-based trio have built a loyal following who are fans of their blistering\, raw-to-the-bone live shows. They’ve toured the UK and Europe extensively and have supported the likes of Samantha Fish on several tours. Their explosive sound combines classic British R&B with punk urgency\, first-class musicianship\, and non-stop onstage excitement. \nReleased in September 2025\, the band’s debut album Straight To It says it all. The trio doesn’t mess around with niceties\, preferring to play the kind of blues-infused rock’n’roll that grabs you by the throat. \n \nGuitarist Zac Schulze\, is a world-class shredder\, playing with precision\, speed\, and passion\, but the focus of the trio isn’t just his solos. The Zac Schulze Gang is an undeniable gang\, a group unified by a like-minded sensibility that adds an electrifying charge to their rock’n’roll. Zac rides the thunder generated by the rhythm section of his drummer brother Ben Schulze and bassist Ant Greenwell. The trio create a massive roar\, all without losing sight of what matters most\, the songs. \nThe Zac Schulze Gang’s sound and work ethic harks back to the much-loved live dynamic and relentless touring schedules of 70s icons including Rory Gallagher and Dr Feelgood. Their unique sound also embodies elements of heritage classic rock acts like AC/DC and Thin Lizzy\, while giving a nod to contemporary influences like Turnstile\, Royal Blood and Queens of the Stone Age. \n \nThe Gang have made lasting impressions at festivals including Eric Clapton’s Crossroads\, Planet Rock’s Winter End in 2023 and Fairport’s Cropredy Festival\, and the Rory Gallagher Tribute Festival in Ballyshannon where the band first exploded onto the scene. \nZac Schulze won Emerging Artist of the Year at the UK Blues Awards 2024 and followed this by winning Young Artist of the Year at the UK Blues Awards in 2025 and 2026. With sold-out concerts in the Netherlands\, Germany\, and the UK\, the Zac Schulze Gang are the band to watch. \n \n \n \nLinks\nzacschulzegang.rocks \n

SUMMARY:Kavus Torabi (Gong\, Cardiacs)
DESCRIPTION:Due to a family emergency for Kavus Torabi\, October dates have been rescheduled for April 2027 and the new date for Edinburgh is Mon 19th April. The venue (The Speakeasy at The Voodoo Rooms)\, times (7.30pm doors) and ticket prices remain the same. All existing tickets are valid for the new date\, or refunds available from point of purchase. \n______________________________________________________________________________________________________________\nFor the last two decades\, Kavus Torabi has been responsible for a staggering body of work that includes his transformative and unusual instrumental music with The Utopia Strong\, the rich\, complex output of his own octet\, Knifeworld\, or fronting the legendary Gong at Daevid Allen’s request\, taking the psychedelic stalwarts into incendiary and ecstatic new realms with four studio albums and counting\, not to mention his involvement and contributions to Cardiacs\, Guapo and The Holy Family.\n \n \nHowever\, it is as a solo artist he weaves all the strands of his idiosyncratic vision together. Fusing the celestial with the human\, the joyful with the melancholy\, blending the autobiographical with the metaphysical. \n \nOver his albums ‘Hip To The Jag’ (2020)\, ‘The Banishing’ (2024) and the forthcoming album (released Autumn 2026)\, Torabi has crafted a shimmering\, singular and otherworldly realm of exquisite songwriting and poetic lyricism. Heartbreaking songs of love\, loss\, mortality of optimism and regret. \n \nA multi-instrumentalist\, Torabi’s charismatic presence and haunting voice is accompanied by guitar\, harmonium and synthesiser\, each performance an immersive\, transformative and ritualistic experience. \n \n \nOn ‘The Banishing’: \n“Situated in mind-blown astral reaches\, while at the same time firmly rooted in the\nkind of hedgerow psychedelia that informed artists from Syd Barrett to XTC’s Andy\nPartridge.”\nThe Wire \n“With him jostled by thoughts of loss\, sorrow and regret\, it comes as no surprise\nthat ‘The Banishing’ has its downbeat moments but Torabi’s identity as a conduit for\nvivid and uplifting psychedelic explorations is strong enough to withstand an\nemotional battering\, and the experience has inspired some of his most tender and\naffecting songs yet.”\nClassic Rock \n“Transcendent and Glorious.”\nThe Quietus \n \n \n

SUMMARY:Nosferatu presented by Tim Brownlow
DESCRIPTION:Nosferatu presented by Tim Brownlow\nThe Journal of a Broken Man \n \nF.W. Murnau’s classic 1922 silent horror film re-scored with live musical accompaniment by Tim Brownlow\, from his original album\, “The Journal of a Broken Man.” \n \nTim Brownlow’s presents\, The Journal of a Broken Man\, a live soundtrack to accompany the 1922 horror classic NOSFERATU. The show presents an evocative re-scoring of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 cult horror classic Nosferatu. Recorded in a Kent studio\, its 14 tracks weave together acoustic textures\, subtle electronics\, and flashes of classic rock. Listeners drawn to the cinematic\, genre-blurring work of Mercury Rev\, Wilco\, Pavement\, and Rufus Wainwright will find familiar echoes here. \n \nEach track corresponds to a scene from Nosferatu\, guiding listeners through themes of love\, longing\, survival\, and despair. Accompanying the release\, Brownlow is developing a unique live show that pairs his performance with the film’s haunting visuals\, creating an immersive audio-visual experience. The Journal of a Broken Man stands as both a powerful standalone album and a compelling reimagining of one of cinema’s most enduring classics. \n \nTim Brownlow is a UK-based songwriter\, composer\, vocalist\, and guitarist whose career spans decades of critical acclaim. He first came to prominence with alternative rock band Belasco\, whose debut album Simplicity (2000) was hailed by Uncut as having the potential to rival Coldplay. Since then\, Brownlow has built a body of work celebrated for its emotional depth and distinctive fusion of indie rock\, acoustic intimacy\, and cinematic scope. \n \nAs a solo artist\, he has continued to expand his sound\, releasing the acoustic-led EP Behind Dark Trees and collaborating with Schiller on the chart-topping album Sonne. His music has also featured in film\, television\, and advertising\, highlighting his versatility as a composer. \n \n \n \n“Tim Brownlow has succeeded in giving the 100-year-old silent film a voice through rock music.”\nBLICK\, STEFFEN KÖNAU \n“The shock potential [is] comparable to the fright caused by the iconic appearance of the Count”\nSONIC SEDUCER\, STEPHAN WOLF \n \n

SUMMARY:Feel
DESCRIPTION:FEEL \nFelt (the past tense of feel) and also the name of the legendary 80s group that recorded ten albums in that decade. \nFeel (the present tense of felt) is a new group made up of original Felt members Gary Ainge (who played drums on all ten albums)\, Marco Thomas on bass and Philip King on rhythm guitar. Along with Martin Davies on keys and Andy Wellings on lead guitar\, they will be honouring the beauty of Felt’s music – by playing instrumental Felt songs – and Felt songs instrumentally. As it says so accurately on the Felt album sleeves – the songs were “coloured in by the band” – and that’s what they intend to do. As well as showcasing the melodic ingenuity of Maurice Deebank and Martin Duffy\, they will also be performing instrumental interpretations of some of the songs of Lawrence. \n \nRADHIKA \nRadhika is a Scottish dreampop group fronted by singer /guitarist Radhika Meera Dade a pop artist of Indian heritage from Glasgow. She has collaborated on stage with artists including Jill Bryson (Strawberry Switchblade)\, Mitch Mitchell (The Pastels)\, Gerry Love (Teenage Fanclub/Lightships) and more recently Stuart Murdoch (Belle & Sebastian)\, James Kirk (Orange Juice) and original members of the group Felt. \n \n2026 saw Radhika release a debut album on the Glass Modern label. Cine-Pop is a collection of songs that spans generations and continents but its home is always Radhika and the family jams she made with her father Sushil K. Dade (Future Pilot AKA). In different moments other musicians appear – most notably key collaborator\, Eric Macdonald\, on hazy synth and keys\, and Radhika’s mother Vinita\, who has a gorgeous voice too. The Glasgow School is very present – Mitch Mitchell (The Pastels) \, Gerard Love (Lightships/ ex-Teenage Fanclub) and Tracyanne Campbell (Camera Obscura) all bring their casual magic to the table. \n \n \nLinks \nradhika \n
