SUMMARY:Cash - The American Recordings
DESCRIPTION:No country music icon has the depth\, enigma and songwriting weight of Johnny Cash. And there’s nobody better suited to honour and revitalize this legacy than Australian outlaw country founding-figure and brooding baritone Henry Wagons. \nKnown as the “Man in Black”\, Cash’s music has always embraced the existential void and stared down the darkness head-on. No period of his esteemed career did this more so than his infamous\, late-career American Recordings albums recorded with creative guru Rick Rubin. Across the course of these six albums released between 1996 and 2006\, Cash’s every syllable serves as both a show-down and an embrace of death itself. These American Recordings records were the instigators for Henry Wagons to pick up the guitar and serve as the embryo for an esteemed career playing his own brand of gothic country music over a quarter century. Now\, spanning space and time\, these two Titans of twang\, Cash and Wagons\, perfectly intertwine in this new show honoring the songs\, arrangements and stories behind these perfectly-curated songs. \nIn CASH: A JOURNEY THROUGH THE AMERICAN RECORDINGS\, HENRY WAGONS will lean into the deep mythology and sound of The American Recordings Albums. Featuring the favourites Solitary Man (Neil Diamond)\, I Hung My Head (Sting)\, The Mercy Seat (Nick Cave)\, Hurt (Nine Inch Nails)\, One (U2) and more\, Wagons and his band The Tennessee Studs will re-create the sonic depth\, poise and ominous force of the original recordings\, as if you were sitting with Cash and Rubin in the control room. \n \n\n \nLinks\nwww.wagonsmusic.com \n

SUMMARY:Josienne Clarke sings Sandy Denny
DESCRIPTION:Acclaimed singer-songwriter Josienne Clarke will tour with a full band and a new show dedicated to the immortal songs and genius of Sandy Denny. \nJosienne Clarke has been hailed as the songwriter-poet of melancholy\, as well as a thrilling interpreter of traditional song. In the wake of her acclaimed new album\, Parenthesis\, I\, she is now stepping up to honour Sandy Denny – a singer with whom she has been compared – with a show that brings Denny’s music to a new generation. \n“If I can take one young fan of mine and introduce them to Sandy\, in a context that they can grab hold of\,” she says. “If they like my music they will love Sandy. And that would be the whole concept sorted. To pass it on\, so that these songs can go on forever.” \nSongs like ‘An Old-Fashioned Waltz’\, ‘Reynardine’\, ‘Fotheringay’ and ‘The Sea’. “You’d be shot for not including ‘Who Knows Where the Time Goes’\,” she adds. “And ‘Solo’ is a beautiful song\, one that has personal resonance for me.” \nRather than a solo show\, audiences can expect a folk-rock set-up of guitar\, piano\, bass and drums. “I want to be free to sing\,” says Clarke\, who usually accompanies herself on guitar. “It’ll be an ensemble to get all the textures and tones that you can get out of her music.” \nClarke describes Denny’s songs as her north star – a constant guiding light. “Look at how brilliant they are – and there are so many of them. And each one has gold in it.” \nIf any contemporary performer is set to extract that gold and fashion it anew\, it is Josienne Clarke. \n \n\n \nLinks\njosienneclarke.com \n

SUMMARY:Dan Owen
DESCRIPTION:Known for his arresting\, husky vocals and gritty\, blues-infused pop/rock\, Dan Owen is a British alternative singer/songwriter from Shropshire\, England. \nOwen became interested in music at an early age\, taking up guitar at nine years old and performing with his sister\, who had taken up singing. Their Dad encouraged them to perform at open-mike events at local pubs throughout their teens. After his sister left for University\, Owen took to performing solo and began appearing at live events at various pubs and clubs throughout the area surrounding Shropshire. Performing under the name “Bluesboy Dan”\, he gradually earned a committed fan base with his passionate versions of songs by artists such as Robert Johnson and John Lee Hooker while also focusing on writing his own material. \nIn 2012 an online video of the young guitarist performing Bob Dylan’s “The Ballad of Hollis Brown” began to generate widespread attention. After a couple more years of relentless performing in which he began to include his own songs\, he was signed to Atlantic Records in 2015 and put out his debut EP\, Bad for Me\, later that year. In 2016 he put out his second EP\, Open Hands & Enemies\, before a European tour with Birdy as support act. \nHe then spent 2017 writing and recording his debut full-length effort. The album — titled Stay Awake with Me — arrived in August 2018. Owen promoted the record with a U.K. and European tour that fall. Dan has toured UK and Europe with the likes of Kaleo\, Alice Merton\, Tall Heights\, Seafret\, 2 tours with Birdy\, a full US tour with Blanco White\, other supports from Manfred Man\, Valarie Dune\, Paul Jones\, Brian Adams and our very own Wille and the Bandits. \nThe second album from the Shrewsbury troubadour landed on Nov 24th. The Willow Tree is Dan Owen’s most honest and real music to date. It contains cuts from songwriter royalty – the late\, great Scott English and incredible guitar playing from Canadian master Ariel Posen. \n \n\n \n“This is the album I’ve always wanted to make. From every word sung\, every note played and even the unplanned dog barking in the background of Call Out\, they’re all moments I’ll always remember.”\nDAN OWEN (Quote about the album) \n“Dan played like he was headlining Wembley: in fact\, if he gave it any more effort\, we’d be genuinely concerned that he was about to have a heart attack. Seriously\, the guy was that good.”\nONE ON ONE \n \nLinks\nwww.danowenmusic.co.uk \n

SUMMARY:Tankus
DESCRIPTION:For more than a decade Tankus have offered a visceral\, transcendental rock ‘n’ roll experience. The hardest-working band in town\, they’ve played roughly 1400 shows\, criss- crossing the continent in the process. \nLed by the redoubtable\, the Jaz Delorean\, with João Mello on sax and vocals\, Dan Hipkin on bass\, Jack Price on guitar\, João Taborda on drums and Russ Evans on trombone\, the band have scored numerous highs\, building an astonishingly loyal fanbase in the process. \nThey’re a deeply theatrical endeavour\, akin to shows by Tom Waits or the Sensational Alex Harvey Band\, but with a modern twist\, reminiscent of the raw power of The Fat White Family or Cage The Elephant\, inviting people into a counter cultural realm for one-night-only. \nWith a work-rate that far out-strips their peers\, the band have created a community that could rival that of the Grateful Dead\, building their audience show by show. \n“There’s no computers\,” Jaz says. “It’s a group of musicians playing because those songs are inside them\, and they’ve got to get them out. It’s not some sanitised space.” \nAfter a decade of non-stop travel\, new album Valley of Distraction is a moment of pause\, their most focussed and intentional record yet\, it’s a sign that the storms of the pandemic could never sink their ambitions. \nThe album was produced alongside Jim Sclavunos\, known for his seminal work with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Grinderman. An astonishing feat of storytelling\, it’s a record that thrives on community. \n \n\n \nLinks\nwww.tankusthehenge.com \n

He first made waves as a founding member of the critically acclaimed Latin jazz group Triorganico before launching a prolific solo career. SUMMARY:China Crisis
DESCRIPTION:Liverpool originals China Crisis have always made music that’s far easier to love than to define. For more than four decades now Gary Daly and Eddie Lundon\, collectively better known as China Crisis\, have been writing and performing some of the most distinctive\, catchy and sophisticated pop songs out there\, from “Wishful Thinking”\, “Black Man Ray”\, and “King in a Catholic Style” to “Christian”\, “Arizona Sky” and “Down Here on Earth”. \nThe band originally emerged in 1981 from their native Kirkby as the songwriting duo of vocalist/keyboardist Daly and guitarist/vocalist Lundon\, who have been working together ever since. Citing influences as varied as Brian Eno\, Davie Bowie\, Stevie Wonder\, Eric Satie and Talking Heads\, it’s not surprising that their sound was quickly distinguishable amongst their peers\, combining synthpop with reggae\, country and other styles with their own unique melodies and harmonies to create distinctively sophisticated but catchy pop in a style all its own. Their 2024 release China Greatness (featuring elevated\, cinematic new arrangements of the \nsongwriters’ own favourite tracks from across their catalogue\, and mixed by multiple-Grammy award winner Mark Phythian) peaked in the album charts at record-setting levels for the band\, and their recent tours around the globe have served to both build the loyalty of existing fans and entice new legions of ardent new followers in the process. Truly beloved for their live performances which combine their engaging music with a healthy dose of Scouse humor\, and with the clear kinship the band have with their fans\, audiences always leave China Crisis shows the all the happier for having been part of the moment. \n \n\n \nLinks\nwww.facebook.com/chinacrisisofficial \n

SUMMARY:Dr. Robert & Matt Deighton
DESCRIPTION:“A totally unique psychedelic folk collection from two masters of their craft. Mysterious\, playful\, poignant and totally original. There really is nothing else quite like it. A masterpiece” \nDr Robert and Matt Deighton come together on The Instant Garden. Every so often\, an album appears that surprises and delights and somehow defies categorisation. Such is The Instant Garden. Dr Robert (The Blow Monkeys) and Matt Deighton (Mother Earth\, Oasis) have conjured up a garden full of earthly delights and mysterious depths. It’s really unlike anything else. A sonic assortment of open tuned acoustics and ferocious electrics with psychedelic melodies and bells and bass. \nSays Robert: “Matt and I bonded over a mutual love of the same atmospheric jewels…. Fred Neil\, Davy Graham\, Tyrannosaurus Rex\, Nick Drake etc. Matt is an astonishing player too. A proper picker of the highest order. We sat opposite each other and recorded it live at my old friend ‘The Ravens” studio up in Angelsey. We disappeared inside the flow and came out 4 days later with an album. Can’t wait to play it live!” \nSays Matt: “We both found we had many musical influences and references in common from ‘Beard Of Stars’ to ‘Oar’ and ’Space Hymns’ even\, so it was inevitable we’d end up playing these songs sitting facing each other mid summer on a leyline mic’d up live in the back of beyond. Couldn’t have been easier… File under ‘Horticounterculture’…” \n \n\n \nLinks\nwww.theblowmonkeys.com \n

SUMMARY:Transmission
DESCRIPTION:Devoted to recreating the atmosphere of a live Joy Division gig\, Transmission emulate the sound of one of the most inventive\, evocative and influential groups of their era. \nJoy Division were formed in the late 1970s and dissolved in May 1980 after the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis. The remaining members went on to form New Order and have achieved great critical and commercial success. \nThe influence of Joy Division\, however\, was far-reaching. They were considered the pioneering band of the post-punk movement of the late 1970s and early 1980s. \nForty years on\, you can still relive the dark\, cavernous sound of Joy Division through Transmission\, the UK’s number-one Joy Division tribute act. \n \nLinks\nwww.transmissionlive.com \n

SUMMARY:The Icicle Works
DESCRIPTION:The Icicle Works were formed in 1981 by Robert Ian McNabb of Kensington\, Liverpool. \nThe original line-up; McNabb\, Chris Layhe and Chris Sharrock scored big with their first album in 1984 which yielded the hit singles ‘Love Is A Wonderful Colour’ (#15 UK chart) and ‘Birds Fly (Whisper To A Scream)’ – which was a Top 30 single in the Billboard chart. \nThey had four Top 40 UK albums which contained a run of classic 45s; ‘Hollow Horse’\, ‘Understanding Jane’\, ‘Who Do You Want For Your Love’\, ‘Evangeline’\, ‘When It All Comes Down’\, ‘Little Girl Lost’ and ‘High Time’. \nMcNabb is considered one of the best singer/songwriters of his generation. His fearlessness\, range of styles and particularly his oft-radical eclecticism sets him apart from many of his contemporaries. \nIn 1990 McNabb recorded the final album to bear the Icicle Works name ‘Permanent Damage’. \nIn 1991 McNabb began a successful solo career – releasing many highly-regarded albums including ‘Head Like A Rock’ which was nominated for the 1994 Mercury Prize. His last single Let The Young Girl Do What She Wants To reached #29 in 2005. He has recently released his 26th studio album ‘If It Wasn’t For The Music’. \nAlongside his ongoing solo work he has worked with Ringo Starr\, The Waterboys\, Neil Young and Crazy Horse and the Lightning Seeds amongst others. \nBirds Fly (Whisper To A Scream) was featured in ‘Stranger Things’ (Netflix) which introduced McNabb’s work to a new generation. \nSince 2006 McNabb has regularly taken The Icicle Works out on the live circuit with Roy Corkill (bass)\, Richard Naiff (keys) and Nick Kilroe (drums). \nRoy Corkill sadly passed away aged 60 in 2024. \nThe current line-up is Ian McNabb\, Richard Naiff and Nick Kilroe. \n“We felt a power-trio was the way to go. I cannot replace my close friend and musical confidant Roy\, Richard will play bass with his left hand. We’re back to being a Prog/New Wave outfit. We started as a three-piece and it feels right to return to that configuration. It’s a full circle – a full icicle! Everyone has to work harder … the results will be electric. We can’t wait for everyone to hear this.” \nThe shows in 2025 will feature Icicle Works classics plus a carefully-curated selection of McNabb solo material. \n \n\n \nLinks\nwww.ianmcnabb.com \n

Their “They Want What You’ve Got” tour featured a string of acclaimed performances\, including shows at The Glasshouse in Gateshead and a headline slot at the Albert Hall in Manchester as part of WOMEX 24. Another unforgettable moment came with their performance at the cliffside Minack Theatre in Cornwall\, where the band held the audience in thrall beneath the open sky as the sun dropped into the sea. \nNow\, with The Heads\, Hearts and Hooves Tour\, Honeyfeet widen their reach again. Their summer travels include appearances at Gobefest in Manchester and Plein Publique Festival in Belgium\, before they journey to Canada for performances at Hillside Festival in Ontario\, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and the Calgary Folk Music Festival. They continue through autumn with appearances at Wilderness\, Green Man and Found Festival\, concluding the year with a headline show at Manchester Academy Three. \nHoneyfeet’s lineup: Lorien Garth Edwards on bass\, Ellis Davies on guitar\, John Ellis on keyboards\, Biff Roxby on brass\, and Phill Howley on drums form a fluid and fearless musical unit. Their live sets move seamlessly between swampy jazz\, raucous brass\, fractured funk\, blues balladry\, and folkloric textures\, held together by a groove and a commitment to musical freedom. Connolly’s vocals lead the charge\, blending mischief\, protest and vulnerability into something fiercely human and utterly live. \n\n\n\n“Brilliant Band”\nCRAIG CHARLES\, BBC 6 MUSIC \n“A righteous blast of working-class energy”\nCLASH MUSIC \n“I’m in love with Honeyfeet”\nBENJAMIN ZEPHANIAH \n\nLinks\nhoneyfeet.org \n

SUMMARY:Sham 69
DESCRIPTION:So\, it’s that time of year when things reflect what the world has to offer. \nSHAM 69 again will tour UK and EUROPE to make a stand against the world going mad\, but with their usual form of crash bang wallop. \nThe band have always maintained their mission to be a live working band and will bring you a great full set of songs old and new. Led by Tim V\, who rescued the band from oblivion\, along with Ian Whitewood and Al Campbell\, and now the formidable Paul Brightman on guitar. \nThe new album isn’t the usual offering of Punk/Oi to suit the drones who’ve come out of retirement\, it’s to suit the situation. Never afraid to confront issues or to offend\, this about doing things for the right reasons\, not because the ‘in crowd’ demand. \nThe world has always sat on the edge of doom\, and now it’s closer to the edge and the band have placed this view on wax and CD and\, for the modernists\, ‘download’. \nStaying true to their ethics and not being a old fart jukebox\, the band want to bring you the strength and passion of ‘show’. Life’s too short…follow your belief not your masters. \n\n\n\nLinks\nwww.officialsham69.com \n

SUMMARY:XGenerationX
DESCRIPTION:Celebrated original Generation X drummer Mark Laff returns with XGENERATIONX for a UK tour in November 2025. \nLegendary punk musician Mark Laff is set to make an electrifying comeback in 2025 with his new project\, XGENERATIONX\, performing the songs of Generation X that he played such a key role in creating with Billy Idol. \nMark Laff’s return to the live music scene has been highly anticipated by punk rock fans across the globe. Generation X were an English punk rock band\, formed in London in 1976. They were the musical starting point of the career of their frontman Billy Idol and issued six singles that made the UK singles chart and two albums that reached the UK Albums Chart. The band’s UK hit singles include ‘Your Generation’\, ‘Ready Steady Go’\, ‘King Rocker’ and ‘Valley of the Dolls.’ \nMark Laff started his career as the drummer for the cult band Subway Sect on the notorious Clash White Riot Tour before joining Generation X. In 2007 he reunited with the original Subway Sect lineup and recorded the songs from the tour with the album ‘1978 Now.’ In 1980 Laff formed the post-punk band Empire. Despite little commercial success\, Empire’s album ‘Expensive Sound’ was highly influential. Writing in The Guardian\, Fugazi’s Guy Picciotto described Empire’s one album as “awkward\, unambitious and with only one album\, the trio still left a huge mark\, influencing the Stone Roses as well as the entire DC hardcore scene”. \nIn 1985 Laff formed Twenty Flight Rockers and signed to WEA releasing the fans favourite ‘Tower Block Rock’ and ‘Johnny 7.’ Mark Laff looking forward to the tour commented: “For those who kept the faith\, I promise not to disappoint with this new exciting lineup. I feel it’s important that XGENERATIONX bring new life to the iconic songs from the 1st and 2nd Generation X albums.” \nIn addition to Mark Laff\, the new lineup includes renowned pop rock/rockabilly star Elizabeth Westwood on vocals. Elizabeth fronted the hit 80s band Westworld\, who had success with the UK #11 single ‘Sonic Boom Boy’ and a further UK hit with ‘Ba-Na-Na-Bam-Boo.’ Elizabeth’s connections to Generation X include being in Westworld with guitarist Bob Andrews as well as being his partner at the time. Later on\, Elizabeth was married to James Stevenson who ultimately replaced Andrews as the guitarist Generation X’s final iteration\, Gen X\, in 1980/81. \nXGENERATIONX is poised to capture the spirit of Generation X and its songs while pushing the boundaries of their sound in exciting new directions. Joining Mark Laff and Elizabeth Westwood on this explosive tour is legendary multi-instrumentalist Steve Norman from Spandau Ballet. \nA founding member of one of the most iconic bands of the 80s\, Steve is best known for his dynamic saxophone solos and charismatic stage presence. As Spandau Ballet’s guitarist on the first two albums\, he helped shape the band’s distinctive New Romantic sound\, which saw global hits like ‘To Cut a Long Story Short’\, ‘True’\, ‘Gold’\, and ‘Through the Barricades’ dominate the charts. Steve’s creative energy and fearless approach to performance – in Spandau Ballet and its punk predecessor The Makers – make him the perfect addition to the XGENERATIONX lineup. His musical versatility and edgy guitar sounds will add a fresh dimension to the band’s punk anthems. Reflecting on the collaboration Steve Norman said: “Generation X were the rebels with guitars\, the punk poets of their time. Teaming up with Mark and Elizabeth to push these songs into a new era is going to be something really special. We’re ready to turn up the volume and make some noise!”. \nMichael Giaquinto joins XGENERATIONX on bass. Michael began his playing career with 90s Essex nihilists\, Maniac Squat and enjoyed some success with the single ‘Fuck Off’. He went on to perform in renowned punk band Vice Squad for eight years\, playing bass on multiple recordings and touring extensively around Europe and the United States at festivals and clubs such as the legendary CBGBs. He then spent several years in Brazil\, where he played in Marca Diabo\, the resident house band at the infamous cultural centre Casa Amarela\, backing performing artists of all types\, from contortionists to beat poets. \n\n\n\nLinks\nwww.xgenerationx.com \n

SUMMARY:The Henry Girls
DESCRIPTION:“These sisters have a sensational talent. The quality of their harmony singing goes beyond mere technique. They possess an unerring ability to blend tone and resonance in a seamless fashion”\nTHE EVENING HERALD \nTheir most recent album\, “A Time to Grow\,” is a testament to The Henry Girls’ evolution as artists. Donegal. The trio formed as a professional music group in 2001 after Lorna and Karen returned from living in Australia where they started to perform and write songs. They have successfully learned to interweave their traditional roots with contemporary elements\, earning them both commercial success and spectacular critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic. \nAs well as writing and recording albums The Henry Girls have written and performed music for Theatre productions\, Dance pieces\, Childrens shows and film and television \, including the Canadian/Irish co-production “A shine of Rainbows (2008) for which they received an IFTA nomination for their contribution to the musical score. \nWhat sets The Henry Girls apart is their distinctive sound\, a captivating fusion of harp\, fiddle\, accordion\, and tight\, impressive three-part harmonies. The harmonious interplay between these instruments and their hauntingly beautiful vocals creates a sonic experience that transcends boundaries\, capturing the essence of both their Irish roots and a global musical spirit. \nThe Henry Girls have graced stages at festivals and venues around the world\, leaving audiences in awe of their exceptional musicianship and heartfelt performances.
