SUMMARY:The Poozies
DESCRIPTION:The Poozies have been a popular mainstay on the scene since 1991. As an all-female group they were very much in the minority but they soared to success on the back of a television appearance on Shetland Sessions\, filmed live at the Shetland Folk Festival. \n  \nIt showed off their originality\, musicianship and great sense of fun\, and kick-started a long career of high-profile gigs and worldwide tours. Along with founding member Mary Macmaster and long-time cohort Eilidh Shaw other distinguished members of the band during this period included Kate Rusby\, Karen Tweed\, Sally Barker\, Mairearad Green and Patsy Seddon. A quieter time followed while children were born and raised\, and the inevitable shifting of priorities and relationships. \nIn 2015 the band came back with a bang! The grounding bass of Mary’s inimitable electro-harp and Eilidh’s lyrical west coast fiddle were joined by Orkney’s Sarah McFadyen and Oban’s Tia Files: two exceptional young multi-instrumentalists\, vocalists and composers. A whole new level of energy and creativity was born and the resulting 2018 album ‘Punch’ made a big impact on the scene. This Claire Button review sums it up quite nicely: \n‘Back in the early 1990s when the Poozies were nascent and had Kate Rusby as a member\, you’d have been pretty shocked if they’d come out with a line like: “We have to assume she’s all right / Up to her neck in her own shite.” But as the title of this their eighth studio album makes clear\, the girls don’t hold back these days… Macmaster’s electro-harp provides a grungy underbelly to the three fiddles and massed vocals of the rest of the group as they romp through a vividly diverse tracklist… Special mention must go to Sarah McFadyen’s grittily stunning Soaking in the Bathtub\, from whence the rather naughty line comes. The combination of McFadyen’s Orcadian accent and swooping voice with her kitchen-sink lyrics make this one of my tracks of the year so far. Rather like a punch\, therefore (either the alcoholic or the violent kind)\, this knocks you out.’ \n  \nUnfortunately lockdown came along and messed everything up for everybody. But the Poozies rose again and evolved into something even bigger and better. In 2023 they brought in the hugely-dynamic guitar powerhouse Michael Bryan\, and went on to experiment with various highly-acclaimed drummers. 2025 will see the fruits of this exciting progression with the release of brand new music and a ramped-up\, festival-headlining show. \n  \n \n  \n“..a mischievous mix of musical mayhem\, spellbinding showcase instrumentals….unencumbered by conventional folk idioms”\nJon Bennet\, folking.com \n“..this is the serenade of a rare butterfly in the ring with a will to take on the wind and win. The Poozies return undaunted and full of energy”\nIan D Hall\, Liverpool Sound and Vision \n  \n \nLinks\npoozies.co.uk \n

SUMMARY:Deep Forest
DESCRIPTION:The Deep Forest story began in the early 90’s in the North of France with the intention of mixing ethnic music with their own electronic and jazz sounds. \n  \nTheir debut self-titled album included the smash single ‘Sweet Lullaby’\, made them an instant worldwide name and\, including their subsequent releases\, they went on to sell 10 million albums. \nThe band received a Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album category and then\, with a later album\, ‘Boheme’\, they won the accolade. Collaborations with Peter Gabriel\, Herbie Hancock Aluna Wade\, plus compositions for various movies and remixes for the likes of Youssou N’Dour\, to name but a few\, the band were always productive. \nIn 2005 Michel Sanchez left to pursue a solo career whilst Eric Mouquet continued to create under the Deep Forest name\, releasing Deep Africa and Deep India albums to name just a few of the many productions. \nThe Deep Forest live set is of today is versatile\, as likely to dip into high tempo electronic music or jazz for audiences to dance to as it is to be ambient and relaxing whilst always retaining that classic Deep Forest sound. 2024 marks the 30th anniversary for the Best World Music Album in the Grammy Awards and 2025 is the 30th anniversary when Deep Forest won the prestigious award. \n \n  \nLinks\nwww.deep-forest.fr \n

SUMMARY:Prolapse
DESCRIPTION:  \nAfter a 26-year hiatus\, motorik noise merchants Prolapse returned with a new single ‘On the Quarter Days’ released on March 25th\, 2025\, through Tapete Records. The single marked a significant return for the band known for their combative lead singers who compete to see who can be heard the loudest over the pounding backline.  \n  \nProlapse’s new single is a bitter love story borne out of frustration where everything is worth nothing. In the very olden days\, the nearest you could get to nothing was to pay a peppercorn rent – a nominal sum. This was a symbolic act which was often paid on the quarter days – 4 days a year when you could sign a binding contract without giving anything away. Prolapse release their new single on the first of these days (Lady Day) and we hope that this little something will help you block out all the nothing flying around. \n  \nMick Derrick describes the new single as the sound of your neighbours arguing while turning up their stereo full blast. If you know Prolapse from before you’ll already know what that means. If not come in\, put a glass against the wall and listen. \n  \n‘On the Quarter Days’ is available on all streaming platforms. \n  \n \n \n  \n \n

SUMMARY:Rioghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet
DESCRIPTION:  \nRíoghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet move with ease and confidence between swampy jazz\, raucous brass\, fractured funk\, blues balladry\, and gorgeous folkloric textures. \nConnolly’s powerhouse vocals lead the charge\, blending mischief\, protest and vulnerability into something fiercely human and utterly live. Honeyfeet holds all of this together with a groove and a commitment to musical freedom. The lineup consists of Lorien Garth Edwards on bass\, Ellis Davies on guitar\, John Ellis on keyboards\, Biff Roxby on brass\, and Phill Howley on drums form a fluid and fearless musical unit.\nRíoghnach Connolly and Honeyfeet return in 2025 with Honeyfeet Presents: The Heads\, Hearts and Hooves Tour\, a bold and celebratory chapter in the journey of one of the most electrifying and genre-defying live acts performing today. Following a string of unforgettable performances\, growing international recognition and a new body of work\, the band sets out across Europe and North America\, carrying their signature blend of protest soul\, twisted folk\, deep groove and joyful abandon. \n  \nAt the heart of Ríoghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet is the indomitable Ríoghnach Connolly\, whose voice is equal parts fierce\, tender and fearless\, connecting ancestral song traditions with contemporary storytelling. She has won the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Award for Best Folk Singer and BBC Radio 2’s Folk Singer of the Year. In early 2025\, she joined Annie Lennox on stage at the Royal Albert Hall for “Sisters: Annie Lennox and Friends\,” a landmark concert that raised funds for The Circle\, Lennox’s global feminist organisation. Sharing the bill with artists including Celeste and Nadine Shah\, Connolly brought her singular presence to a night that celebrated the transformative power of music and collective voice. \n  \nThe past eighteen months have seen Honeyfeet on a steady rise. Their “They Want What You’ve Got” tour featured a string of acclaimed performances\, including shows at The Glasshouse in Gateshead and a headline slot at the Albert Hall in Manchester as part of WOMEX 24. Another unforgettable moment came with their performance at the cliffside Minack Theatre in Cornwall\, where the band held the audience in thrall beneath the open sky as the sun dropped into the sea. \n  \nNow\, with The Heads\, Hearts and Hooves Tour\, Honeyfeet widen their reach again. Their summer travels include appearances at Gobefest in Manchester and Plein Publique Festival in Belgium\, before they journey to Canada for performances at Hillside Festival in Ontario\, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and the Calgary Folk Music Festival. They continue through autumn with appearances at Wilderness\, Green Man and Found Festival\, concluding the year with a headline show at Manchester Academy Three. \n \n \n“Brilliant Band..”\nCRAIG CHARLES\, BBC 6 MUSIC \n“A righteous blast of working-class energy.”\nCLASH MUSIC\n \n“I’m in love with Honeyfeet.”\nBENJAMIN ZEPHANIAH\n \n \nLinks\nhoneyfeet.org \n

DESCRIPTION:From her years in the Everybodyfields\, to her critically acclaimed solo career to her latest collaboration\, Hush Kids\, which she co-founded with Nashville songwriter and producer\, Peter Groenwald\, Andrews has delivered irresistibly melodic\, genre-bending music for nearly two decades. \n  \nAnchored by frank songwriting but continuously and unapologetically evolving\, Andrews’ tape deck currently hosts a range of influences from Joni Mitchell to Diana Ross to The Beatles to contemporaries\, Gregory Alan Isakov and St. Vincent. SUMMARY:Joyce Moreno
DESCRIPTION:Born in Rio de Janeiro\, four-times Grammy nominee\, singer\, composer\, arranger and instrumentalist\n \n  \nJoyce Moreno has in her portfolio over 400 recordings of songs she has authored\, interpreted by the greatest names in Brazilian popular music: from Elis Regina and Gal Costa to Milton Nascimento\, Sergio Mendes\, and countless others. Beyond Brazil\, Joyce’s work has been recorded by Annie Lennox\, Wallace Roney\, Omara Portuondo\, Black Eyed Peas\, David Sanchez\, Jon Lucien\, Claus Ogerman\, Gerry Mulligan\, Till Brönner\, Flora Purim\, to name a few. \n  \nJoyce’s compositions have been featured in film soundtracks (e.g.\, ‘The Player’ by Robert Altman and ‘Legally Blonde’ by Robert Luketic)\, animations (the Japanese anime ‘Wolf’s Rain’\, in partnership with composer Yoko Kanno)\, TV programmes\, and theatrical productions. In the early 1990’s her music was embraced by DJs all over the world\, starting from London\, and her tune ‘Aldeia de Ogum’ became a massive worldwide dancefloor hit\, with numerous remixes. \n  \nSince the beginning of her career\, Joyce’s registered trademark has been the first-person feminine voice\, which she pioneered; she was the first Brazilian female songwriter to express herself in this form\, opening the way for countless other artists who followed. \n  \nJoyce Moreno has received four nominations for the Latin Grammy (2000\, 2004\, 2005\, 2010)\, and numerous awards\, worldwide and in her native Brazil. To date\, she has released 39 personal CDs and two DVDs\, in addition to numerous compilations and guest appearances. Currently\, her work takes her all over the world; she makes annual tours and records new albums in various countries\, never losing her feminine Brazilian identity. Each year she performs on the Japanese Blue Note circuit and tours jazz festivals and other venues in Europe and North America. \n  \nIn 2015 her musical work was honored at Berklee College of Music\, where she performed her own songs with a 25-piece orchestra of top-notch students\, in a concert called “Joyce Meets Berklee”. \n  \n \n“…One of the best singers of all time!… As if it weren’t enough\, Joyce is a great composer and plays ace guitar! What an amazing woman!”\nAntonio Carlos Jobim \n  \n“These days\, she occupies a status something like that of Joni Mitchell\, a matriarch who paved the way for other women (…) while influencing a generation with her jazz-steeped songs.”\nAndrew Gilbert – East Bay Express \n  \n“Her musical capacity surprised me when\, years later\, she reemerged playing guitar like the best (in the land of João Gilberto\, Dori [Caymmi]\, [Gilberto] Gil\, and João Bosco\, this is not a bagatelle)\, her singing precisely tuned\, writing songs with original harmonic and melodic imagination..”\nCaetano Veloso \n \nLinks\njoycemoreno.com \n

SUMMARY:Rob Heron & Conrad Bird
DESCRIPTION:Rob Heron has been touring the world with his band The Tea Pad Orchestra for the past 15 years\, throwing flavours of classic country\, gypsy-swing\, rhythm & blues\, and rockabilly into his original songs.\n \n  \nOriginally from the Lake District\, but based in Newcastle Upon Tyne\, he is well-known for his live performances\, and dry humour on stage. He and his band have toured with big-name Americana outfits such as Pokey LaFarge\, The Dead South\, and Sierra Ferrell. \n2026 sees Rob recording his first ‘solo’ record since 2008\, delving deeper into that lonesome country sound\, yodelling cowboy songs\, and more intimate song-writing.\nConrad Bird is a rambling rover from North Yorkshire\, and after over a decade of fronting the very popular festival act\, Holy Moly & The Crackers\, he is finally taking it back to the roots\, with a brand-new solo EP of poetic folk songs\, and Dylan-inspired balladeering. His gravelly voice and his on-stage story-telling result in a very charming stage show. \nTogether\, the Cumbrian cowboy\, and the Yorkshire rover are heading off on a country-wide tour\, both promoting their new solo releases\, and briefly taking a step back from the wild rock & roll circus! \n  \n \n

SUMMARY:Ian McNabb
DESCRIPTION:Robert Ian McNabb was born in Liverpool on November 3rd 1960. An only child – the son of Patricia and Robert.\nHe first picked up a guitar at the age of 12 after seeing Marc Bolan on Top Of The Pops. \n  \nIan joined his first band\, Young World\, at the age of 15 ; They played the working men’s club circuit for a couple of years before Ian joined another band City Lights. This band again gigged extensively around the North of England cabaret circuit\, but Ian grew tired of playing other peoples songs and decided that cabaret was not the way forward for him.\nHe had always written songs for fun but now he began to take it seriously. \nIn 1981 Ian formed The Icicle Works with Chris Sharrock (drums)\, and Chris Layhe (bass and vocals).\nThey quickly gained a following through their debut single release\, Nirvana\, and extensive live performances up and down the country. \nThe Icicle Works became part of the Liverpool renaissance movement of the eighties\, alongside acts such as Echo And The Bunnymen\, The Teardrop Explodes\, WAH!\, Heat\, OMD\, Black\, Dead Or Alive\, Frankie Goes To Hollywood\, The Lotus Eaters\, and China Crisis. \n  \nThey signed to Beggar’s Banquet records\, and under the guidance of Martin Mills scored a top 20 hit with Love Is A Wonderful Colour in the U.K ; and top 40 placings in the U.S\, Canada\, and Europe with Birds Fly (Whisper To A Scream)\, with their eponymous debut album. \nThe Icicle Works achieved top 40 placings in the UK for all four of their albums – The Icicle Works\, The Small Price Of A Bicycle\, If You Want To Defeat Your Enemy Sing His Songs\, and Blind – until they split up in 1988. \nMuff Winwood signed Ian to Epic records in 1989\, paying a buy-out fee to Beggar’s Banquet; but Muff’s insistence on using The Icicle Works name\, (with new musicians Roy Corkill and Zak Starkey) when the original band had ceased to be\, caused friction\, and after one disappointingly received album\, Permanent Damage\, Ian was dropped from Epic’s roster. \nIan began a collaboration with his friend and previous Icicle Works producer\, Ian Broudie – a number of songs featured on subsequent Lightning Seeds records\, which became hugely successful. \nIan signed to Andrew Lauder’s new imprint\, This Way Up\, in 1992\, which yielded 3 albums : Truth And Beauty (which Ian had recorded at his own expense by remortgaging his house)\, Head Like A Rock\, which was recorded in part with Neil Young’s band Crazy Horse in L.A and subsequently nominated for a Mercury Music Prize in 1994\, and Merseybeast – the latter 2 albums achieved top 30 placings; the first was heralded as “One of the best records released in Q magazine’s lifetime”.\nThis Way Up records ceased to be in 1997 and Ian found himself without a deal once more\, so accepted an invitation to join his friend Mike Scott (The Waterboys) on bass guitar for a lengthy European and Japanese tour.\nIan self financed another record in 1998\, A Party Political Broadcast On Behalf Of The Emotional Party\, which featured Danny Thompson (John Martyn\, Nick Drake amongst others) on upright bass. They toured together that Autumn to promote the record. At the end of the decade Ian released the live disc Live at Life\, recorded over two nights at Liverpool’s Life Cafe. \nIan then joined The Waterboys on keyboards for a European tour. When this was completed\, Ian accepted Ian Broudie’s invitation to record on ‘The Barge’ – Pete Townshend’s studio which Broudie was currently renting\, moored next to Pete’s Eel Pie complex. The resulting album – Ian McNabb – saw a return of Ian’s love of guitar driven pop/rock and was released on Sanctuary Records in 2001. \nIan briefly played bass guitar in Ringo Starr’s band in 2002. \nThroughout the 00s Ian released a further 5 solo albums : Waifs And Strays\, The Gentleman Adventurer\, Before All Of This\, How We Live\, and Great Things – all self financed and issued on his own Fairfield Records imprint to a small\, dedicated fan base. All albums were supported by extensive touring. \nIn 2009 Ian unleashed his autobiography Merseybeast which has become something of a cult classic amongst the rock fraternity (Peter Buck of R.E.M contacted Ian recently to tell him that he’d only just discovered the book and loved it!) – it has since been released as an audio book\, narrated by Ian himself. \nSo far this decade\, Ian has released Little Episodes\, Eclectic Warrior\, and Kruggerands – harder rocking albums which both feature the band Cold Shoulder ; Respectfully Yours (a long promised album of cover versions)\, Star\, Smile\, Strong\, which features collaborations with Prof. Brian Cox\, a co-write with Ralph Molina (from Crazy Horse)\, and the unexpected return of Icicle Works drummer Chris Sharrock (who had gone on to work with The La’s\, World Party\, Del Amitri\, Dave Stewart\, Mick Jagger\, Robbie Williams\, Oasis\, and both Liam and Noel Gallagher in their solo endeavours)\, and most recently Our Future In Space\, which once again features Cold Shoulder\, and the song Aquamarine co-written with R.E.Ms Peter Buck. \n \n \n \n“Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet\, consectetuer adipiscing elit..”\nWRITER – PUBLICATION \n“Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet\, consectetuer adipiscing elit.”\nWRITER – PUBLICATION \n“Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet\, consectetuer adipiscing elit.”\nWRITER – PUBLICATION \n \nLinks\nianmcnabb.com \n

SUMMARY:Martin McAloon of Prefab Sprout "Steve McQueen - Slight Return"
DESCRIPTION:Martin McAloon announces Steve McQueen – Slight Return UK Tour\n \n  \nFollowing the overwhelming response to last year’s celebrated Two Wheels Good tour\, Martin McAloon is hitting the road again this autumn — this time bringing Prefab Sprout’s landmark album Steve McQueen to towns\, cities and venues that the tour didn’t reach first time around. \nSteve McQueen – Slight Return is a joyful acknowledgement of the demand that never quite went away. \n“Following the national and international success of the Two Wheels Good tour\,” says Martin\, “it seemed right to acknowledge just how many people were asking for more — in places we hadn’t yet reached. I’m buoyed by the reception these songs received\, and I’m thrilled to be taking the album out on the road one last time.” \nOne of the most beloved British records of the 1980s\, Steve McQueen will be performed in full — and that’s just the beginning. As with last year’s shows\, Martin will also be drawing from the wider Prefab Sprout catalogue\, bringing to life as many of his brother Paddy’s songs as the evening will hold. \nLast year’s repertoire stretched to over thirty songs beyond the album itself. \n  \nThese are evenings for fans old and new: intimate\, warm\, and overflowing with some of the most beautifully crafted pop songs this country has ever produced \n  \n \n“An absolute delight and must-see for any Prefab Sprout fan and a masterclass in how to survive the music business and remain human..”\nPeter Freeth – At The Barrier.com \n  \n \nLinks\nmartinmcaloon.com \n

SUMMARY:Transmission: The Sound of Joy Division
DESCRIPTION:Devoted to recreating the atmosphere of a live Joy Division gig\, Transmission emulate the sound of one of the most inventive\, evocative and influential groups of their era. \n  \nJoy Division were formed in the late 1970s and dissolved in May 1980 after the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis. The remaining members went on to form New Order and have achieved great critical and commercial success. \n  \nThe influence of Joy Division\, however\, was far reaching. They were considered the pioneering band of the post-punk movement of the late 1970s and early 1980s. \n  \nForty years on\, you can still relive the dark\, cavernous sound of Joy Division through Transmission\, the UK’s number one Joy Division tribute act. \n \n \nLinks\ntransmission-live.com \n

It continues to build on what first bonded the pair after meeting on the festival circuit – A love of deep funk and feel-good hip-hop. \n  \nMoneyshot had already made a name for himself as a resident on Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel radio. Gaining worldwide fame for his DJ mixes\, with Rolling Stone magazine ranking him in their ’25 Greatest Internet DJ Mixes of All Time’ feature. \nAnd Rackabeat\, a successful drum ’n’ bass producer\, had already banged out a string of releases\, including remixing dance music royalty like Groove Armada.\nMixing this keen ear for a sample\, and some polished studio knowhow\, provided the perfect formula for The Allergies sound. Inspired by producers like Cut Chemist\, Public Enemy’s Bomb Squad\, and the kaleidoscopic sampledelica of acts like The Avalanches and vintage De La Soul\, they raid the past to make music for the future. \n  \nClassic tracks from their back catalogue like ‘God Walked Down’\, ‘Felony’ and ‘Every Trick In The Book’ which continue to rack up tens of millions of streams\, are prime examples of The Allergies vision – To take dusty grooves from forgotten wax and pull out soulful hooks\, add hip-hop energy and driving drums\, to make something new and exciting that hits your heart as much as it does your dancing feet. \n  \n \n  \n“The Allergies music is big\, bouncy and fat! SUMMARY:Funke and the Two Tone Baby
DESCRIPTION:  \nFunke and the Two Tone Baby is a truly unique artiste.\n \n  \nDesigning music on a machine of his own creation whilst playing a genre and sound that is totally his own. Jammed between off-kilter garage beats with a flash of hip-hop\, and high energy alternative blues with a dose of funk\, is a whirling blur of glitches\, big drops and jump up choruses. It’s Fatboy Slim meets The White Stripes via LCD Soundsystem and a smattering of IDLES to boot. No one is making music in this way or in this style\, and those who know\, know\, and those who don’t are surely missing out. \n  \nIn February 2027\, Funke returns with his 5th studio album ‘Greebling’. ’Greebling’ is the process of adding detail to increase the appearance of complexity and this new iteration of Funke promises to be more detailed and more complex than ever before. With the new album featuring guest appearances from Beans on Toast and Samantics\, and once again produced by Dutty Moonshine Big Band’s production genius\, ‘Binge’\, Funke’s 5th LP stands head and shoulders above anything he has done so far on his long and dedicated music career. \n  \nThe new record contains all the elements of blues\, electronica and ferocity that Funke’s been evolving for the last 15 years\, but distils it further down with tighter production\, a fuller embrace of dance music culture and an ever-growing arsenal of instruments and repertoire. Trading an acoustic guitar for an electric\, this new direction cuts through a pulsating desk of synths\, drum machines\, harmonicas and boundless energy\, to create a wall of sound you can’t believe one man can make. \n \nLinks\nfunkeandthetwotonebaby.co.uk \n

SUMMARY:Kavus Torabi (Gong\, Cardiacs)
DESCRIPTION:Due to a family emergency for Kavus Torabi\,  October dates have been rescheduled for April 2027 and the new date for Edinburgh is Mon 19th April. The venue (The Speakeasy at The Voodoo Rooms)\, times (7.30pm doors) and ticket prices remain the same. All existing tickets are valid for the new date\, or refunds available from point of purchase. \n______________________________________________________________________________________________________________\nFor the last two decades\, Kavus Torabi has been responsible for a staggering body of work that includes his transformative and unusual instrumental music with The Utopia Strong\, the rich\, complex output of his own octet\, Knifeworld\, or fronting the legendary Gong at Daevid Allen’s request\, taking the psychedelic stalwarts into incendiary and ecstatic new realms with four studio albums and counting\, not to mention his involvement and contributions to Cardiacs\, Guapo and The Holy Family.\n \n  \nHowever\, it is as a solo artist he weaves all the strands of his idiosyncratic vision together. Fusing the celestial with the human\, the joyful with the melancholy\, blending the autobiographical with the metaphysical. \n  \nOver his albums ‘Hip To The Jag’ (2020)\, ‘The Banishing’ (2024) and the forthcoming album (released Autumn 2026)\, Torabi has crafted a shimmering\, singular and otherworldly realm of exquisite songwriting and poetic lyricism. Heartbreaking songs of love\, loss\, mortality of optimism and regret. \n  \nA multi-instrumentalist\, Torabi’s charismatic presence and haunting voice is accompanied by guitar\, harmonium and synthesiser\, each performance an immersive\, transformative and ritualistic experience. \n  \n \nOn ‘The Banishing’: \n“Situated in mind-blown astral reaches\, while at the same time firmly rooted in the\nkind of hedgerow psychedelia that informed artists from Syd Barrett to XTC’s Andy\nPartridge.”\nThe Wire \n“With him jostled by thoughts of loss\, sorrow and regret\, it comes as no surprise\nthat ‘The Banishing’ has its downbeat moments but Torabi’s identity as a conduit for\nvivid and uplifting psychedelic explorations is strong enough to withstand an\nemotional battering\, and the experience has inspired some of his most tender and\naffecting songs yet.”\nClassic Rock \n“Transcendent and Glorious.”\nThe Quietus \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Feel
DESCRIPTION:FEEL \nFelt (the past tense of feel) and also the name of the legendary 80s group that recorded ten albums in that decade. \nFeel (the present tense of felt) is a new group made up of original Felt members Gary Ainge (who played drums on all ten albums)\, Marco Thomas on bass and Philip King on rhythm guitar. Along with Martin Davies on keys and Andy Wellings on lead guitar\, they will be honouring the beauty of Felt’s music – by playing instrumental Felt songs – and Felt songs instrumentally. As it says so accurately on the Felt album sleeves – the songs were “coloured in by the band” – and that’s what they intend to do. As well as showcasing the melodic ingenuity of Maurice Deebank and Martin Duffy\, they will also be performing instrumental interpretations of some of the songs of Lawrence. \n  \nRADHIKA \nRadhika is a Scottish dreampop group fronted by singer /guitarist Radhika Meera Dade a pop artist of Indian heritage from Glasgow. She has collaborated on stage with artists including Jill Bryson (Strawberry Switchblade)\, Mitch Mitchell (The Pastels)\, Gerry Love (Teenage Fanclub/Lightships) and more recently Stuart Murdoch (Belle & Sebastian)\, James Kirk (Orange Juice) and original members of the group Felt. \n  \n2026 saw Radhika release a debut album on the Glass Modern label. Cine-Pop is a collection of songs that spans generations and continents but its home is always Radhika and the family jams she made with her father Sushil K. Dade (Future Pilot AKA). In different moments other musicians appear – most notably key collaborator\, Eric Macdonald\, on hazy synth and keys\, and Radhika’s mother Vinita\, who has a gorgeous voice too. The Glasgow School is very present – Mitch Mitchell (The Pastels) \, Gerard Love (Lightships/ ex-Teenage Fanclub) and Tracyanne Campbell (Camera Obscura) all bring their casual magic to the table. \n  \n \nLinks \nradhika \n

SUMMARY:Cash - The American Recordings
DESCRIPTION:CASH – A JOURNEY THROUGH THE AMERICAN RECORDINGS starring HENRY WAGONS & THE TENNESSEE STUDS\n \n  \nNo country music icon has the depth\, enigma and songwriting weight of Johnny Cash. \nAnd there’s nobody better suited to honour and revitalize this legacy than Australian outlaw country founding-figure and brooding baritone Henry Wagons. \n  \nKnown as the “Man in Black”\, Cash’s music has always embraced the existential void and stared down the darkness head-on. No period of his esteemed career did this more so than his infamous\, late-career American Recordings albums recorded with creative guru Rick Rubin. Across the course of these six albums released between 1996 and 2006\, Cash’s every syllable serves as both a show-down and an embrace of death itself. These American Recordings records were the instigators for Henry Wagons to pick up the guitar and serve as the embryo for an esteemed career playing his own brand of gothic country music over a quarter century. Now\, spanning space and time\, these two Titans of twang\, Cash and Wagons\, perfectly intertwine in this new show honoring the songs\, arrangements and stories behind these perfectly-curated songs. \n  \nIn CASH: A JOURNEY THROUGH THE AMERICAN RECORDINGS\, HENRY WAGONS will lean into the deep mythology and sound of The American Recordings Albums. Featuring the favourites Solitary Man (Neil Diamond)\, I Hung My Head (Sting)\, The Mercy Seat (Nick Cave)\, Hurt (Nine Inch Nails)\, One (U2) and more\, Wagons and his band The Tennessee Studs will re-create the sonic depth\, poise and ominous force of the original recordings\, as if you were sitting with Cash and Rubin in the control room. \n  \n \nLinks\nwagonsmusic.com \n
